Job Description

This Process Engineer will be responsible for proficiently programming and debugging the production of all NPIs through SMT including prototypes.  Will be responsible for overseeing the process documentation as well as for creating re-flow profiles from customer “profile” boards or by “best guess”, and performing analysis.  Will be responsible for first build analysis to quality on all new assembly part numbers that are processed through SMT.  Troubleshoot as necessary and escalate to appropriate internal or external resources.  Do preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee all process documentation; responsible for continuous improvement through efficiency improvements, different tooling, improvement through internal/external defect analysis
  • Develop standards for stencil apertures; responsible for the acquisition of stencils, fixtures, tools, equipment, and supplies and file conversion
  • Negotiate service contracts; recommend new equipment
  • Implement corrective action in the program, process or production of product
  • Create written procedures and visual aides for all PCAs
  • Develop and implement Corrective Actions to the SMT process, as required, to improve and assure product quality; troubleshoot as necessary and escalate to appropriate internal or external resources.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment
  • Create re-flow profiles from customer “profile” boards or by “best guess” and then analyze
  • Do build analysis to quality on all new assembly part numbers that are processed through SMT
  • Write operating instructions and work instructions for x-ray and re-work
  • Maintain fixtures; develop qualification procedures and processes for new equipment or suppliers that are to be introduced into mainstream manufacturing
  • Other duties as necessary to ensure meeting facility goals and objectives

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree AND minimum of 2-3 years experience in a related manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years in an SMT / PCA Engineering Environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid negotiation skills are a must
  • Proficiently program and debug the production of all NPIs through SMT, including prototypes
  • Proven ability to interact with the customers and suppliers
  • Provide leadership: development and guidance to SMT personnel
  • Must be willing to travel as necessary
